RustDesk Remote
Bring your own self-hosted RustDesk server for one-click remote desktop.
Setup
- Stand up your RustDesk server (hbbs + hbbr), reachable from your customers' machines.
- Install (don't run portable) the RustDesk client on your technician machine and point it at your server - installing registers the link handler the RustDesk button uses.
- On that client: Settings > Network > Unlock > Export Server Config, then paste the copied string into App Center > RustDesk > Server Config String.
NOTE: Delete any leading = (equals) signs from the pasted config string - they are just padding, not part of the string. The field also strips them automatically when you save.
Deploying to Machines
Enable RustDesk on the RMM policies that should get it fleet-wide, or click Install RustDesk on any asset's page for a one-off. Deployments run RustDesk's official deployment script with your config string, set a random unattended-access password, and report the machine's ID back.
Connecting
Click the RustDesk button on the asset page: your local RustDesk client launches dialing the machine and the unattended password is copied to your clipboard - paste it at the prompt and check Remember password for one-click access from then on.
If RustDesk is uninstalled from a device outside RAD Repairs, the button resets to "Install RustDesk" automatically after the next hourly inventory sync.
