RustDesk Remote Access
Connect your self-hosted RustDesk server to RAD Repairs for remote desktop access. The RMM agent deploys RustDesk to managed devices, and a RustDesk button appears on asset details.
Overview
RAD Repairs integrates with your own self-hosted RustDesk server (bring your own server). Once enabled, the RMM agent deploys RustDesk to monitored assets using RustDesk's official deployment script, and a RustDesk button appears on the asset details page for one-click remote sessions.
RustDesk is configured in App Center → RustDesk. The RustDesk Remote Access section in Admin Settings → RMM Settings links there.
Connection Settings
- Enable RustDesk - Master toggle. When enabled, RustDesk can be deployed to assets and the RustDesk button appears on asset details.
- Server Config String - The only setting deployments need. On your technician machine's RustDesk client (already connected to your server): Settings → Network → Unlock network settings → Export Server Config - the string is copied to your clipboard; paste it here. Deployments run RustDesk's official deployment script with this string, so deployed clients match your working client's server settings exactly.
NOTE: Delete any leading = (equals) signs from the pasted config string - they are just padding and not part of the actual config string. The field also removes them automatically when you save.
Connecting and Unattended Access
Each deployment sets a random unattended-access password on the machine and reports its RustDesk ID back. Clicking RustDesk on the asset page launches your locally installed RustDesk client and copies that machine's password to your clipboard - paste it at the password prompt and check Remember password for one-click access on every later connection. Your technician machine needs RustDesk installed (not run portable) so the rustdesk:// link handler is registered.
Deployment: Enable the RustDesk option on the RMM policies that should receive it for automatic fleet deployment, or click Install RustDesk on any asset's detail page for a one-off machine. Settings are saved automatically as you change them.
Uninstall detection: If RustDesk is removed from a machine outside of RAD Repairs, the platform notices during the hourly inventory sync and resets the asset's button back to "Install RustDesk" automatically.
Note: RAD Repairs does not host a RustDesk server for you. You need your own RustDesk server (relay/ID server) already running before configuring this integration.
